The Facets of the STAR Series
The impression of the Star Ferry Pier in my mind is not the sea of people striving to rescue her, nor the other sea of people shooting her last appearance. Those are like the roaring in the battlefield, or the children beside the dead bed of the dying father waiting for their share of inheritance. How dreadful they are! Now a year after, what is still fresh in my mind is her features and sweet words from people who deeply love her. So here I put together pieces of outlook of the late Star Ferry from different angles and some love notes from people to make this Star Ferry Impression series.
The Star Ferry Portrait series
This was inspired by the pop-art master Andy Warhol’s unique style of using silk-screen printing. His work is often seen as highly capitalized pop art. Very often he took celebrities as the subject for his works of silk-screen printing, and the subjects were represented through the deconstruction, repetition, pastiche and collage of colors and images. It so happens that this is the first and the twentieth year after the Star Ferry and Andy Warhol have left us respectively. Shall I present this Star in the style that Warhol presented his stars.
